Pet Insurance

We would recommend pet insurance to all our clients. With modern advances in animal medicine there is so much more that we can do for your pet if it becomes ill. However a lot of new procedures and new drugs are costly. Even routine procedures such as blood tests and xrays can be expensive.

There are a wide variety of policies on the market now. The best is ‘lifetime’ or ‘lifelong’ cover. If your pet is diagnosed with an ongoing condition, for exapmle diabetes, skin disease or epilepsy, it will need treatment for life and will be covered under such policies.

Cheaper policies may only cover these conditions for the first year.

Please be careful if you are thinking of changing insurers. They will not cover any pre existing conditions.

If you have any questions about insurance we will be more than happy to discuss them with you.

March update

Just a couple of pieces of information that might interest some owners.

A new book ‘My dog is blind – but lives life to the full.’ by Nicole Horsky, has recently been published and provides helpful encouragement to owners who have a blind dog. It shows that dogs who are blind can still lead an active and fulfilling life.

Secondly, attention all rabbit owners.  A new variant of Viral Haemmorhagic Disease is circulating in France. This disease casuses  rabbits to die very quickly, often they are just found dead by owners in the morning.  The current vaccine does confer immunity. It would be sensible to consider having your rabbit vaccinated  as although the disease has not yet been reported in the UK we cannot rule out that it will not arrive over the Summer.

As always, should you need any advice, please do call and leave a message or send an  email.

Rosie
