Don’t worry. You are not alone. The fleas have spent all summer building up their numbers and are now attacking en masse. The secret to conquering the flesa problem is regular treatment of a veterinary licenced spot on application and, if necessary spraying the house too. All pets in the house must be treated, all pets must be treated regularly. if you need help please call. remeber, you are not alone. At this time of year everybody’s itchy!

Just a couple of pieces of information that might interest some owners.

A new book ‘My dog is blind – but lives life to the full.’ by Nicole Horsky, has recently been published and provides helpful encouragement to owners who have a blind dog. It shows that dogs who are blind can still lead an active and fulfilling life.

Secondly, attention all rabbit owners. A new variant of Viral Haemmorhagic Disease is circulating in France. This disease casuses rabbits to die very quickly, often they are just found dead by owners in the morning. The current vaccine does confer immunity. It would be sensible to consider having your rabbit vaccinated as although the disease has not yet been reported in the UK we cannot rule out that it will not arrive over the Summer.

As always, should you need any advice, please do call and leave a message or send an email.

Rosie

Hello everyone and welcome to the new Paws Indoors blog.

This is a new way for us to keep you up to date with the latest veterinary issues and advice.

We will try and post seasonally relevant information, for example how to cope if your pet has a fear of fireworks, as well as new developments, products and services and other news.

April and I recently attended a day of lectures on how to care for the older cat. Kidney disease, arthritis and diabetes commonly affect older cats. Recent advances mean that there is a lot more that can be done for cats affected by these conditions.

For a limited period we are offering free urine tests for any cats over 12 years of age. I know this is not an easy thing to get excited about but we can get a lot of crucial information from quite a small sample!

If you have a cat over 12 and would like to take advantage of this offer, or you would like to discuss any other issues affecting your cat’s health please get in touch.

Back down to earth, please not that Rosie has moved. Her new address is Willow Fields, Bungay Road, Hempnall, Norwich NR15 2NG.
